Saints looking for divine intervention

It has been a tough return to the Bundesliga for St. Pauli, who, back in the top flight for the first time since 2011, have lost each of their three fixtures so far.

That means they head into this round as one of a trio of clubs yet to pick up a point this season, and their goal difference is also a major concern.

Alexander Blessin’s side have conceded six times, and scored just once, over their three outings, with two of their defeats coming be at least a two goal cushion.

Leipzig need to bounce back

If there is any hope for the hosts, perhaps it can be drawn from the fact that RB Leipzig were beaten 2-1 in the UEFA Champions League by Atletico Madrid in midweek.

Marco Rose’s side have still made a good start to the campaign though, inflicting a 3-2 defeat on Bayer Leverkusen, that after winning 1-0 against Bochum on the opening day.

They are also unbeaten over seven top flight away league fixtures, winning three of them by 2+ goal margin and netting 21 times in the process!

It is difficult to see anything other than an RB Leipzig win in this game, and I think they will do so with a -1 handicap, selecting 3-1 as a correct score prediction.
