Barnsley can’t bridge gap

Stockport are in form and look set to come out on top when they host Barnsley at Edgeley Park on Saturday.

They are fourth in League One, six places and seven points above Barnsley, with 14 wins, eight draws and seven losses from their 29 games this season. The visitors have won 12 and lost ten.

Stockport beat Leyton Orient 1-0 last week to bring the hosts’ 11-game unbeaten run to an end. Stockport restricted Orient to one shot on target, having led 1-0 at half time – the fourth game in a row that they have been ahead at the break.

Barnsley ended in-form Burton Albion’s run of three straight League One victories with a 0-0 draw, but they lost 2-1 to Wycombe last week in their last away game.

They have now lost their last two League One away games and are struggling on the road.

Stockport have been winners in six of their last eight League One home games and, having won by a two-goal margin in six of their 14 victories this season, Stockport to win 2-0 looks a solid correct-score bet.
