Cardiff Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Cardiff have avoided defeat in seven of their last nine away games in all competitions while Stoke have failed to win seven of their last eight home games. The Potters have not beaten Cardiff in the last nine meetings (six draws, three defeats) so could struggle to make it through it 90 minutes.

Cardiff 2-1

Reason for tip

Stoke denied Cardiff a 2-1 win at the bet365 in the league thanks to a stoppage-time leveller, but their luck may run out this time. Cardiff have scored exactly two goals in five of their last eight away games but rarely keep clean sheets so a 2-1 away victory seems possible.

Cian Ashford To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Wales Under-21 international Cian Ashford has made a huge impact in the Championship with two goals and two assists in the last five weeks. It was his goal, a solo effort from just inside Sheffield United’s half, that sent Cardiff through to the fourth round and he looks likely to feature again.

Riza seeking a reaction from Bluebirds

Cardiff can extend their FA Cup run by taking advantage of Stoke’s woeful recent home form when the two Championship sides clash in the fourth round at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday.

The Bluebirds will be looking to bounce back from a 7-0 mauling at the hands of second-tier leaders Leeds on Saturday when they started and finished the game badly. Cardiff were two goals down inside 13 minutes and conceded a couple of late efforts too when they perhaps expected their hosts to take their foot off the gas.

City boss Omer Riza, who will continue to serve a touchline ban for this game, apologised to fans for the lacklustre display as his side registered just two shots to Leeds’ 29. He will demand a response and may just get it as the Bluebirds take on a Stole team that are just one place and one point better off in the Championship table.

Potters have been poor at home

The Potters’ wheels have been spinning since Mark Robins took charge at the start of the year, although last week’s 2-1 win at Hull was a step in the right direction. However, Stoke have been unable to gain much traction at home – where they have won only one of their last eight matches.

They are far too short in the market at a shade of odds against in the circumstances and the fact that Cardiff have not lost in their last nine meetings makes the visitors a decent play to avoid defeat again.

Both managers picked understrength line-ups for their third-round assignments at Sunderland and Sheffield United respectively, but some more senior stars should be involved this time and the goals could flow with a 2-1 away win the pick for correct score backers. It was not far off landing in the corresponding league fixture before Stoke’s stoppage-time leveller.
