Visitors can start how they mean to go on

A thrilling run to the FA Cup semi-finals somewhat derailed Coventry’s push for the play-offs last season but they can return to winning ways on the opening day of the new campaign at Stoke on Saturday.

The Sky Blues lost five of their final six league matches of the campaign as they finished nine points off of the top six, with the second most goals scored of any side outside of the play-off positions.

Stoke’s 10 points from their final four games of the season saw Steven Schumacher’s men finish six points clear of the bottom three but their home form was largely poor throughout, with only Millwall netting fewer goals in from of their own fans than the Potters.

Coventry will feel confident that they can get the job done against a side known to falter at home and they have won four of their last five visits to Stoke. Their last two has seem them win to nil and a 2-0 victory on Saturday looks a tempting propostion.
