Stoke can edge out Swans

Saturday’s Championship clash between Stoke and Swansea at bet365 Stadium is unlikely to be a goal fest. Eight of Stoke’s last ten league games and Swansea’s last three have had fewer than three goals, and back under 2.5 goals again.

Swansea are two places above Stoke in the table, but both teams have lost more games than they’ve won. The hosts are 19th with seven wins and 13 defeats, while the visitors are 17th having won ten and lost 15 of their 32 games.

Swansea are struggling to get wins, having failed to win seven of their last eight Championship games. However, they were 1-0 winners over Bristol City in their last away match on Sunday. That said, Stoke haven’t tasted defeat in five of the last six times Swansea have visited them in the league.

Stoke lost 2-0 to Bristol City on Wednesday in their last Championship outing, which was their eighth game in ten with under 2.5 goals. Priced at 19/5 to win the game, the scoreline would have been a little disappointing for them, and they didn’t manage to get a shot on target.

Both teams have been disappointing in front of goal this season. No Championship team has fewer goals than Stoke’s 28 in 31 games, while Swansea have scored 33 goals in 32 games – an average of just one goal per game.

Unders has been a winning bet in three of the last five Championship games between these sides, and four of the last six times Stoke have hosted Swansea in the league have produced under 2.5 goals.

Stoke to win 1-0 looks a decent correct-score option. Four of Swansea’s last five away games in the Championship have seen them beaten, and they have lost by a single goal 11 times. Five of Stoke’s seven wins this season were by a single goal.
