Augsburg Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Stuttgart have lost three games on the bounce across all competitions and may struggle to overcome an Augsburg side that are unbeaten in four matches and have won three of those since losing to Stuttgart in mid January.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Augsburg are unbeaten in four matches across all competitions and have only lost one of their last five road fixtures. With hosts Stuttgart on a three-game losing run, the visitors can at least take this one to extra time, with a repeat of the 1-1 draw they secured against St Pauli on Saturday standing out in the correct-score market.

Stuttgart vs Augsburg Predictions

  • Stuttgart have lost three matches on the bounce
  • Augsburg are unbeaten in four games, winning three of those
  • The visitors have lost just one of their last five away fixtures

Stuttering Stuttgart may struggle

Stuttgart’s season is in danger of unravelling following a three-game losing streak that has seen them knocked out of the Champions League and lose ground in the race to finish in the
Bundesliga’s top four.

Sebastian Hoeness’ side will be hoping they can steady the ship against Augsburg in this DFB-Pokal quarter-final and they do have a good recent record against the visitors, including claiming a 1-0 success when the teams met in the Bundesliga last month.

The problem for Stuttgart is that Augsburg have improved greatly since that loss and will head to the MHPArena with their tails firmly up.

Improving Augsburg aiming to extend cup run

Since losing to Stuttgart on 12th January, Augsburg have embarked on a four-match unbeaten run, winning three of those games to ease any concerns about being dragged into a relegation battle in the Bundesliga.

Jess Thorup’s side have also lost just one of their last five road fixtures, beating Union Berlin and Werder Bremen and drawing with Eintracht Frankfurt and St Pauli during that time.

The momentum certainly appears to be with Augsburg heading into this game and they can at least take the contest to extra time, with a repeat of Saturday’s 1-1 draw with St Pauli perhaps providing the most appeal.
