Stuttgart Draw No Bet

Reason for tip

Stuttgart have won their last four home DFB-Pokal ties, three against fellow Bundesliga clubs. The home side can overcome an RB Leipzig side that have not won any of their last eight away matches and recently sacked Marco Rose, appointing Thomas Tuchel’s ex-assistant Zsolt Low on an interim basis a couple of days before this clash. Backing the hosts to win with the safety net of Draw no Bet makes sense here because Stuttgart have let good positions slip in recent games.

Stuttgart 1-0

Reason for tip

Stuttgart have scored more goals in their last four games than Leipzig have in their last six and they boast a decent home record in the cup too, winning two of their last four home ties 1-0.  The Red Bulls have failed to score in their last four away games and may struggle to get on the board in this one. A single goal may be enough to see Stuttgart through.

Stuttgart vs RB Leipzig Predictions

  • Stuttgart have won their last four home DFB-Pokal ties, three against fellow Bundesliga clubs
  • RB Leipzig have not won any of their last eight away matches
  • The Red Bulls sacked Marco Rose and appointed Thomas Tuchel’s ex-assistant Zsolt Low on Sunday

Leipzig hit a new Low

Stuttgart and RB Leipzig face off for a place in the DFB Pokal Final on Wednesday and it could boil down to which side believes it can grab glory from an otherwise dismal campaign. The Red Bulls dismissed coach Marcus Rose this week, ending a two-and-a-half year spell of inertia, and will hope for an immediate bounce from the team under Zsolt Low, who has got the job until the end of the campaign.

The new coach bounce phenomenon may come into play, but Low is only an interim appointment and as a long-time assistant to Thomas Tuchel now assumes the number one role for the first time.

Leipzig’s away form is one of the reasons behind the change as the Red Bulls’ only win in their last 13 road games came at lowly Holstein Kiel. They have failed to score on their last four trips, so it is hard to see them winning this cup clash in Stuttgart, although a draw is not beyond the realms of possibility against a home side on a six-game winless run.

Stuttgart are scoring more goals than Red Bulls

In fairness to Stuttgart, they have had a tough set of fixtures lately. The Swabians lost to the top three Bundesliga teams and claimed a 2-2 draw with Holstein Kiel after going down to 10 men.

Sebastian Hoeness’ side have scored more goals in their last four games than Leipzig have in their last six and they boast a decent home record in the cup too. Stuttgart overcame Borussia Dortmund at home in last season’s DFB Pokal and they probably do not lose this in 90 minutes either.

Backing the hosts to win with the safety net of Draw no Bet makes sense here because Hoeness’ side have let good positions slip in recent games, such as when leading Leverkusen 3-1 at home, while Leipzig have drawn three of their last four away games 0-0.
