Sweden vs Norway Predictions
- The main selection won in five of the last six H2H meetings.
- No side since Portugal in 2020 has stopped Sweden from scoring at Friends Arena.
- Norway have scored 12 goals across their last three games.
A scintillating Scandinavian encounter
One of the picks of the Nations League games sees Sweden welcome their Scandinavian neighbours Norway to the Friends Arena. With major European attacking talent adorning both sides such as Emil Forsberg, Alexander Isak (SWE) and Erling Haaland (NOR), goals could be on the cards.
Historical clashes between these nations points to exactly that, with five of the last six meetings seeing goals at both ends. In fact, Emil Forsberg scored in the last encounter as well as in Sweden’s Nations League opener, so it would be little surprise to see the Leipzig star feature yet again.
Since the conclusion of last year’s Euros, no side has stopped Sweden from scoring on home soil, yet the same can be said about six of the last seven nations that Norway have visited. As such, we think that both teams to score is where the value lies in this encounter.
Norway’s defensive mettle will be tested
While Norway kept a clean sheet in their opener despite being dominated in terms of possession and attempts by Serbia, they will do well to keep Sweden off the scoresheet. Notably, Norway have no clean sheets on Swedish soil since 2004, conceding seven times here since!
With Haaland leading the line, it would be foolish to back against Norway finding the net. As such, we are backing BTTS in this clash, with a smaller stakes punt on a 1-1 draw in the correct score market.
