Accrington to struggle on the road

Swindon can take advantage of Accrington’s defensive struggles when the teams meet at the County Ground on Saturday.

Swindon are five places above Accrington in the table, but both teams have lost more games than they’ve won this season. Swindon sit in 15th with 11 wins and 12 losses, while Accrington are 20th with ten wins and 17 defeats.

Backing the home side in games between bottom-half teams in League Two in the 103 such fixtures this season would have shown a profit of 18.12 points to a one-point level stake.

Accrington’s recent away form is a major concern. They have lost five of their last six League Two games on the road, with the last two trips both ending in defeat.

Their recent form has been inconsistent, with three wins, one draw and two defeats in their last six games. That run included a 5-0 win over Newport, but also a 2-1 loss to 21st-placed Harrogate Town.

Swindon may be able to edge out Accrington, with a 2-1 home win the correct-score pick. Seven of Accrington’s 17 league defeats this season have been by a 2-1 scoreline and, if both teams score, it would be the fourth League Two game in succession for Swindon.
