Tottenham Hotspur vs Eintracht Frankfurt Predictions
- Frankfurt have won only three of their last 11 away games
- Tottenham have won four and drawn one of their five Europa League home games this season
- Spurs have kept only one clean sheet in their last 11 matches
Spurs can seize the initiative
The Europa League is the potential saving grace for Tottenham in what has been largely a disappointing campaign and they can claim a vital first-leg lead in their quarter-final at home to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Injuries have hampered Tottenham for much of the season but, Dejan Kulsevski aside, they are now virtually at full strength and there should be no excuses in this showdown with the Bundesliga side.
Ange Postecoglou’s side were 3-1 winners at home to Southampton on Sunday and they have excelled in the Europa League at home, prevailing in four of their five matches and drawing only to Roma.
Frankfurt sit third in the Bundesliga but their form has tailed off with four defeats in their last six league matches.
Frankfurt have a point to prove on their travels
In fact, the German side have won only three of their last 11 away matches in all competitions and they have suffered defeats at Lyon and Roma in recent road trips in Europe.
So, although blighted by inconsistencies, Spurs should fancy themselves at home especially with the options available to Postecoglou stronger than they have been for much of the season.
Frankfurt have conceded two or more in seven of their last 11 matches on the road and in Heung-min Son, Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson and James Maddison, Tottenham have the creative quality to put them to the sword.
Correct-score punters can take a chance on a 3-1 home win. Tottenham have won by that margin in their last two matches on their own patch while Frankfurt have failed to score in only one of their last seven outings.
