Tottenham Hotspur vs Leeds Predictions
- Tottenham have won seven of their ten competitive home games this season.
- Leeds have lost five of their last six away games.
- Leeds haven’t beaten Spurs away from home since 2001.
- Harry Kane has four goal contributions in six H2Hs with Leeds.
Spurs can finish on a high
Antonio Conte is about to get some relief over a hectic schedule that he recently described as “crazy!”, which is probably for the best as Spurs’ Premier League campaign looks at risk of fading into obscurity if they don’t quickly improve on their run of three defeats across the last four rounds.
In truth, it’s highly unlikely that Spurs will head into the break any lower than fourth, so to come back afresh after Christmas may well see them pick up their top-four challenge with aplomb. Ahead of that though, they must play one final game against a relegation-threatened Leeds United.
After winning their opening seven competitive home games of the season, Spurs have failed to win their three most recent outings here, though they should realistically have enough quality to overcome a Leeds side that haven’t won an away H2H in over 20 years!
Resurgent Leeds may hit a bump
Although back-to-back wins have pulled Leeds into a mid-table position, they still entered this round just three points above the drop zone and as such are still far from safe.
Scoring first will be key to any potential Leeds success, with Spurs winning five of their six league games when scoring first. Yet that may be easier said than done after Leeds shipped the opener in almost half of their league games so far (W1, D1, L4).
Leeds did win their most recent away league game at Liverpool, but they reverted to their usual subdued selves when falling to a fifth away defeat across six trips in a 1-0 loss at an out-of-sorts Wolves in a midweek League Cup clash.
Stick with Spurs
Although Leeds seem to be in the ascendency in terms of form, Spurs should have more than enough quality on the pitch as well as home advantage to overcome the challenge.
For smaller stakes, we’re going for a 2-1 correct score pick in favour of the hosts and an anytime goalscorer prediction for World Cup bound Harry Kane, who has already registered four career goal contributions against Leeds.
