Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City Predictions
- Just one of City’s last 13 matches has featured fewer than three goals
- City have kept four clean sheets in 20 away matches this season
- Tottenham have won their last three Premier League games
City’s bad week may just get worse
It has been a difficult week for Manchester City and could get even worse when they head to the Tottenham on Wednesday.
Their Champions League campaign is over after they were knocked out of the playoffs by Real Madrid and the level to which they have been below par this season was exposed by Liverpool, who look almost certain to replace them as the kings of the Premier League this season.
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has not been a happy place for Pep Guardiola’s side to visit as they have lost on six of the eight occasions they have appeared there.
And while Spurs have had their own issues this term, they have beaten the Citizens twice this term, including a 4-0 win at the Etihad which has been their best result of the season, so this may not be the midweek when City bounce back.
Spurs may have turned the corner
Tottenham, meanwhile, look like they have cause to be optimistic.
No one associated with the club will want to see them in the bottom half of the Premier League table but there are signs that the treatment room is becoming less congested and Ange Postecoglou’s team have hit a bit of form in the league.
Their ejections from the Carabao and FA Cups were blows for a club desperate for a trophy, but they have won their last three league outings against Brentford, Manchester United and Ipswich, which should lift the mood as they look to push their way up the table and goon to mount a decent Europa League charge.
Kulusevski looking confident
Tottenham’s clean sheet in their 1-0 win over United was their first since a 4-0 success over Everton on August 24, so City should be expected to fins the net, but considering their visitors’ woes, Spurs look to represent better value and a 2-1 home win is worth considering for those looking for a correct-score interest.
Also, don’t be surprised if Dejan Kulusevski, one of the few Tottenham players who has not had big injury issues this season, finds the net.
The Sweden midfielder took his tally to ten for the season against Ipswich at the weekend and the fact he had four attempts in both of the wins against Brentford and Manchester United suggest he is confident enough to regularly try his luck.
