Tottenham Hotspur vs Nottingham Forest Predictions
- Tottenham have won seven of their last eight home league games
- However, the hosts have seen BTTS in their last 11 league matches at home
- Forest have lost all six of their visits to the top seven this season
Key weekend for Tottenham
After slipping to a 1-1 draw against West Ham in midweek, Tottenham looked to have dropped two vital points in the Champions League chase. However, that proved to be a point gained after sixth-placed Manchester United’s late collapse against Chelsea. With the Red Devils hosting a title-chasing Liverpool side on Sunday, Spurs have a huge opportunity against Nottingham Forest.
If Spurs can edge out the struggling visitors, they’ll be at least nine points clear in the likely final Champions League spot with just seven games to play. They are well-placed for a top-four finish, but it’s getting harder and harder to see a way that they miss out on Europe’s premier competition next term.
More trouble for Forest
A points deduction has hit Forest’s survival hopes, but their away form has also played a key part in their relegation fears. Only Sheffield United have picked up fewer away points than Forest, who have lost nine of their 15 away trips this term. Former Spurs boss Nuno is hoping to improve that record against his former team, but they’ve already lost six visits to the top seven heading into this weekend.
The visitors are winless in their last six away games, while they’ve lost each of their three meetings with Spurs in the Premier League since gaining promotion.
Defensive concerns remain for hosts
Tottenham have a solid 11 wins from 15 home games this term and they have a perfect record at home to the bottom nine. The hosts have also won all five meetings with the bottom four, so they are worthy favourites to secure the points on Sunday. They’ve also won seven of their last eight at home in the league, so they head into this one well-placed to dispatch Forest.
However, Spurs have conceded in each of those victories. In fact, the hosts have seen both teams score in their last 11 at home, keeping only two home clean sheets this term. Given they host a Forest side who lost 4-2 at Villa Park, 3-2 at Old Trafford and 2-1 at the Emirates, the visitors should be confident of a goal.
Take Spurs to concede in a victory once again, while Son stands out as a great anytime goalscorer option. The South Korean has scored in Tottenham’s last two at home, while he has found the net in five of his last seven games for club and country.
