Tottenham Hotspur vs Watford Predictions
- Tottenham have won to nil in three of their four competitive games this season.
- Watford have only won one of their last five competitive away games, scoring just two goals.
- Spurs have only conceded one goal in four games under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Kane returns with a bang
Harry Kane made his first start of the season for Tottenham in midweek just days after announcing that he was remaining in North London for the year, and he didn’t take long to make an impression as a first-half brace helped Spurs overturn their first-leg deficit against Pacos Ferreira.
That 1-0 away defeat remains the only blemish on Nuno Espirito Santo’s young Tottenham career and he will be expecting to maintain his perfect Premier League start against the newly promoted Watford on Sunday.
Hornets brought back down to earth
The visiting Hornets did announce their return to the top flight with an impressive 3-2 win over Aston Villa but you get the feeling that was a bit of an anomaly when it comes to Watford.
A 2-0 defeat at Brighton brought them back down to earth and while they did clinch an EFL Cup win in midweek this will be a much tougher test for Xisco’s men.
Goalscoring issues could be Watford’s downfall
Watford have won just one of their last five competitive away games and have only scored two goals in the process, while Santo seems to have brought his defensively solid tactics to Spurs so far with three wins to nil from five four games.
The underdogs’ lack of attacking threat and Tottenham’s newfound defensive stability makes a Tottenham win to nil bet look enticing, and I’m also backing a repeat of last weekend’s 2-0 loss at the Amex Stadium for a correct score prediction.
Tottenham predicted lineup: Lloris; Tanganga, Sanchez, Dier, Reguilon; Hojbjerg, Skipp, Alli; Moura, Son, Kane
Watford predicted lineup: Bachmann; Cathcart, Troost-Ekong, Kabasele, Masina; Etebo, Sarr, Cleverley, Louza, Sema; Dennis
- Watford have trailed at half-time and full-time in each of their last four Premier League away games
- Tottenham have won six of their last eight Premier League matches
