Goals expected in Hoffenheim

Both teams to score has been a winning bet in four of Hoffenheim’s last five Bundesliga matches while Stuttgart have scored two or more goals in 13 of their 22 league games this season. Back both teams to score in Sunday’s clash at PreZero Arena.

Stuttgart started the weekend eight places above Hoffenheim in the table, with a 14-point gap between the two sides. The hosts have five wins and eleven defeats, while the visitors have claimed ten victories with five draws and seven losses.

Hoffenheim have failed to win six of their last seven Bundesliga home games, losing three of the last four. It’s hard to draw many conclusions from their recent results overall, with two wins, one draw and three defeats in their last six outings.

The hosts beat Werder Bremen 3-1 last time out, but they conceded the opening goal for the fourth game running. They have won just two of the 15 games this season in which they’ve shipped the first goal (13%). However, they defied odds of 11/4 to win, pulling away from the relegation places as a result.

It would be no surprise to see Stuttgart find the net – they have averaged two goals per game against bottom-half teams this season – and both sides have been struggling to keep clean sheets of late.

Hoffenheim have been unable to keep their opponents at bay in 12 straight Bundesliga games, while Stuttgart have failed to shut out the opposition in nine of their last 11 league matches.

Stuttgart have been on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat two times in the Bundesliga this season and Hoffenheim have renewed confidence following last week’s win, so they could edge this by a 2-1 scoreline. Five of Stuttgart’s last six league games have ended with over 2.5 goals.
