Union Berlin vs FSV Mainz 05 Predictions

  • Union Berlin have conceded 2+ goals in five of their last six games
  • Mainz have netted at least three times in three of their last four on the road
  • The visitors have bagged 18 goals across their last eight fixtures

Union Berlin in trouble

Things are going from bad to worse by the week for Union Berlin, who head into this game having gone nine fixtures without a win, losing eight times during that run.

A huge issue that head coach Steffen Baumgart, who took charge at the turn of the year, has to address is a troublesome defence who have conceded at least twice in five of their last six outings.

That makes it difficult to be victorious, but things are no better under the new boss, who has seen his team beaten 2-0 by Heidenheim and Augsburg in his opening two fixture.

Will Mainz keep good run going?

That is good news for a Mainz side who certainly know where the back of the net is, scoring at least twice in seven games in a row, until losing 1-0 to Bayer Leverkusen last time out.

That run includes away successes at Holstein Kiel (3-0) and intracht Frankfurt (3-1), as well as a pulsating 4-3 defeat to Wolfsburg, a game the 05ers led three times.

Manager Bo Henriksen will be hopeful his side, who have scored 30 goals across 17 Bundesliga outings, can come out on top though, given they have won six of their last eight, scoring 18 in the process.

I predict that Mainz will score 2+ goals in this match, with 2-1 my correct score prediction.
