Uruguay vs Trinidad & Tobago Predictions
Uruguay could be genuine contenders at Copa America this summer in the United States having struggled in Chile last year without the suspended Luis Suarez. The Barcelona man will form the focal point of their attack here as they host Trinidad & Tobago in their only warm-up game before what looks to be a relatively comfortable group for them gets under way. Uruguay have had an excellent season so far winning 4 of their 6 World Cup qualifiers to top the South American section of World Cup qualifying.
Their home record is particularly strong at the intimidating Estadio Centenario and although this is only a friendly, there is still likely to be a good crowd in and they will be expecting a comfortable home win. You have to go back to 2009 for their last home defeat.
It is unlikely that Trinidad & Tobago will put that record to the test. They were quite impressive at the Gold Cup last summer and were a little unfortunate to go out on penalties at the Quarter Final stage following a thrilling 4-4 draw with Mexico in the group phase. They’ve also made a good start to World Cup qualifying and are 3 points clear of USA in their group. However they won’t be going to Copa America after suffering a surprising 1-0 defeat to Haiti in a one-off qualifying match and they were thrashed 4-0 by Peru only last week in a friendly so expectations of them getting a result here are certainly low.
A front two of Suarez and Cavani should cause their defence all sorts of problems. Uruguay have won all three home games this season without conceding, bagging 3-0 wins over Chile and Colombia, who are clearly stronger sides than Trinidad & Tobago. Therefore they are well capable of securing another 3 goal winning margin here and backing Uruguay -2 Goal Handicap at 23/20 looks the best approach to take.
