Valerenga endured a torrid start to the new Norway Eliteserien this season as they slumped to four straight defeats, and they are still trying to recover from that very early setback.

They finished last season in 7th position in the Eliteserien, but after 13 games of the 2016 campaign they find themselves just one position outside of the relegation playoff position in 13th.

This comes from a poor return of just 11 points in 13 games, which is surprising given that they have performed well in the Norwegian Cup and the mid-season friendlies. Odd have had to play a Europa League qualifier in midweek though, which could turn out to be an advantage as they return from a month absence from competitive football. They beat Mariehamn 2-0 in the home leg to make it three wins from their last five games in all competitions.

Their one defeat during this period came as they were eliminated from the Norwegian Cup in extra time by Tromso, and in the league they have won seven of their last ten.

Odd have won three, drawn two, and lost just one of their six away days in the Eliteserien this season, whilst Valerenga have lost three times at home already this term. My prediction is for the visitors to do well on Sunday, and odds of 1.825 for an Odd 0.0 Asian Handicap look very attractive to me. I’m also backing a 2-1 correct score prediction at 17/2.
