Valencia vs Mallorca Predictions
- Both teams have scored in four of Valencia’s last five matches, including three draws
- Both teams have scored in Mallorca’s last six contests, including four draws
- Two of the last three matches between these clubs have been drawn
Tough to separate Valencia and Mallorca
Recent form and past history suggests Valencia and Mallorca will produce another closely-fought contest at Estadio Mestalla on Sunday. Los Che are battling to avoid relegation and head into this weekend’s round of fixtures only one point above the drop zone.
Meanwhile, a recent upturn in results has seen Mallorca strengthen their bid for European football and they now stand only four points behind fifth-placed Villarreal and Real Betis, in sixth.
Although unbeaten in their last six, the San Moix side have drawn four of those games and needed a 97th-minute Vedat Muriqi penalty to break a deadlocked home game against Valencia’s fellow strugglers Espanyol earlier this month. Jagoba Arrasate’s side have won only two of their last nine away La Liga matches so are probably not worth backing to win this clash.
Both teams to score at the Mestalla
Valencia have been more reliable at home, winning four of their last five La Liga games at the Mestalla. But only one of those was against a top-half team and they may find Mallorca too tough to overcome.
A third draw in four between these clubs looks more likely than a win for either, but both teams to score offers a potentially safer play given their recent records. Both teams have scored in four of Valencia’s last five matches and also in all of Mallorca’s last six contests.
Kosovan striker Vedat Muriqi will be returning to his club in a positive mood after bagging a hat-trick in his country’s 3-1 Nations League win over Iceland this week. He had scored four goals in his previous six Mallorca games before the international break and looks a top anytime goalscorer candidate.
