Valencia flourish has been ideally timed

Valencia have found their form at just the right time to avoid a flirtation with relegation to the Segunda and last week’s 2-1 victory at Real Madrid will have given them a huge boost ahead of Friday’s clash with Sevilla.

Hugo Daro was on hand to net an injury-time winner at the Bernabeu on Saturday , which gave Los Che a six-point cushion above La Liga’s bottom three and their success over Los Blancos was an added extra as their home form has been strong lately.

They did suffer a 3-0 reverse against Atletico Madrid, but that is the only match they have lost at the Mestalla in their last six and that should bode well for Sevilla’s visit.

Sevilla enduring an underwhelming campaign

We are used to seeing Sevilla pushing for honours, but they too have had an underwhelming season as they sit 12th in the standings.

They had gone five away games without defeat before they lost 2-1 at arch-rivals Real Betis the last time they were on the road, and they have suffered three straight league reverses as they also found Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid too strong.

With Los Che buzzing following the win over Real Madrid, the balance looks to be tipped in their favour, but as the visitors have scored in all but one of their last eight on the road, a 2-1 home success may be of interest to correct-score punters.
