Verona vs Cagliari Predictions
- Verona haven’t failed to score in a Serie A game since matchday three, but have also only kept one clean sheet of their own in the 11 games since.
- Both teams have scored in 10 of Cagliari’s 14 Serie A games this season, and in 12 of Verona’s.
- Verona are averaging two goals per Serie A game, and have won their last five at home.
- Cagliari are yet to win an away league match this season.
Verona to Respond to Setback?
Igor Tudor suffered just his second defeat as Verona boss last weekend, watching his team throw away a half-time lead to lose at struggling Sampdoria. At home, however, Verona have won their last five Serie A matches, scoring 15 goals in the process.
Walter Mazzarri’s Cagliari are next up for Verona, and the Sardinians will have been devastated by conceding a last-minute equaliser in their relegation six-pointer with Salernitana on Friday night. Cagliari are six without a win, although they have drawn the last two, and are yet to win away from home this season.
Both Teams to Net, Hosts to Edge it
Verona’s strong home run includes fantastic wins over Roma, Juventus and Lazio, and Tudor’s side should have it in them to bounce back from their Sampdoria setback here. Having said that, Verona have only kept one clean sheet in their last 11 games, and have conceded 11 goals in seven fixtures before their own fans this term.
Both teams have scored in 10 of Cagliari’s 14 Serie A matches this season, a run I expect to continue here, with the Sardinians possessing the attacking quality, in the form of Joao Pedro and Keita Balde, to give them hope in their battle for survival. I also expect their winless run to continue, however, and am backing Verona to win with both teams scoring. 3-1 to Tudor’s men looks a good correct score prediction as they bid to bounce back.
