Verona vs Sassuolo Predictions
- Sassuolo have won four of their last five matches, only losing to Napoli in their last 10.
- Verona have gone without a win in their last six games, losing four.
- The Gialloblu lost October’s return fixture 2-1 against the Neroverdi.
- Sassuolo have beaten Serie A heavy hitters AC Milan, Atalanta and Roma since the end of January.
Neroverdi in fine form
Sassuolo saw their momentum halted somewhat by a 1-1 draw with Torino last time out, as Alessio Dionisi’s men squandered a first-half lead. The Neroverdi have, however, won four of their last five in Serie A, and they will fancy their chances of getting back to winning ways when they visit struggling Verona on Saturday. Marco Zaffaroni’s men have seen their own revival stunted of late, going six games without a win, and they need to kick-start their survival bid sooner rather than later.
Sassuolo have only lost to Napoli in their last 10 games – a run stretching back to mid-January. Heavy hitters AC Milan, Atalanta and Roma have lost to the Neroverdi during that spell, in which forwards Andrea Pinamonti and Domenico Berardi have hit top form. On the road, Sassuolo are unbeaten in their last five – winning three and scoring 13 times – having lost each of their previous five away from Reggio Emilia.
Verona have endured a dire run of late, with their 1-0 defeat at Juventus last time out coming off the back of a damaging loss to Sampdoria. Zaffaroni’s men have lost four of their last six games, failing to net in the same amount and only hitting two goals in total. If the Gialloblu are to have any chance of reeling in Spezia and escaping the drop, they need to take more risks – and there is hardly a side better equipped to take advantage of that than Sassuolo.
Sassuolo worth backing against strugglers
Verona’s dreadful run and inability to make their mark in recent relegation six-pointers against Spezia and Sampdoria does not bode well for this meeting with one of Serie A’s form sides.
While we’re backing Sassuolo – who beat Verona 2-1 back in October – for victory, a 1-0 away win could represent correct score value – only Sampdoria (16) have scored fewer than Verona’s 22 Serie A goals this term.
