Wolfsburg vs Eintracht Frankfurt Predictions

• Wolfsburg’s last three home games in the Bundesliga have finished with three or more goals.

Wolfsburg can bare their fangs

After making a strong start to the calendar year  by scoring 11 goals without reply, Wolfsburg followed it up with a rather uninspired five-game winless run in domestic action. That run saw them eliminated from the German Cup and also lost them valuable ground on the European places.

However, a resurgent 2-0 win over Cologne ended a run of back-to-back games without scoring and dragged Niko Kovac’s men back into contention. The Wolfs should be confident ahead of this specific fixture too, given they’ve never failed to score in any of the last 20 competitive H2Hs against Eintracht Frankfurt (W11, D5, L4).

More goals wouldn’t surprise many, not least because Wolfsburg’s home games in this calendar year averaged a considerable five goals per-game!

Faltering Frankfurt may struggle

Visiting manager Oliver Glasner previously managed Wolfsburg for a couple of years between 2019-21 and actually holds the club’s second-best points per-game average. However, his current Frankfurt side are yet to win an away game in 2023 and could struggle after conceding five goals across their last two trips.

That’s not all, Glasner has never defeated his former club in three touchline H2Hs (D1, L2) and that works both ways with Wolfsburg boss Niko Kovac winning four of his five personal clashes against the Eagles.

All in all, we’re leaning towards the home win here. Admittedly, this is a well matched game between two sides chasing Europe, yet we’re giving Wolfsburg the edge in our main selection. As for the correct score, we’re going for a narrow, yet exciting 2-1 result in favour of the hosts.
