Wolverhampton vs AFC Bournemouth Predictions
- Wolves are unbeaten in four, having won back-to-back league fixtures
- Bournemouth have won only one of their opening six away league games
- Both teams have scored in ten of Wolves’ last 11 league matches
Wolves can bring up the hat-trick
After an underwhelming start to the season, things are looking on the up for Wolves with successive victories over Southampton and Fulham enabling them to move out of the relegation places.
Wolves had failed to win any of their opening ten matches, taking just three points, but a brace of wins has seen them leapfrog Crystal Palace and Ipswich out of the bottom three.
To be fair to Gary O’Neil’s side, they had an extremely difficult set of early fixtures to contend with as they faced Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Liverpool all within their opening six league assignments.
So it always had the makings of a tricky start yet Wolves are now unbeaten in four and they are fresh from their most convincing display of the season, having recorded an emphatic 4-1 victory away to Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Despite sitting 17th, Wolves are the eighth highest scorers in the division and they are getting a real tune out of Matheus Cunha, who has chipped in with seven goals in 12 games.
The Brazilian has formed an excellent partnership with the more physical presence of Jorgen Strand Larsen and Wolves have scored in all 11 league games since suffering a 2-0 defeat at Arsenal on the opening weekend of the season.
So with confidence well and truly restored, O’Neil’s men may have the beating of Bournemouth, who are only four places and six points above Wolves.
Cherries toiling on their travels
The Cherries have suffered back-to-back league defeats to Brentford and Brighton and they have won only one of their opening six away games.
Andoni Iraola’s side have taken only one point from their last four on the road, losing at Liverpool, Leicester and Brentford.
So Bournemouth should be expecting a stern test at Molineux, where Wolves have pushed Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester City close in 2-1 defeats.
Wolves are fancied to utilise home advantage but correct-score punters may want to side for a 2-1 home success given both teams have scored in ten of their last 11 league games.
The net also bulged at both ends in Bournemouth’s last four, suggesting this could be entertaining, although Wolves have their tails up and can build on their purple patch.
