Wrexham vs Stockport Predictions

Goals could be in short supply at Wrexham

Goals could be at a premium when Wrexham host Stockport at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday, and under 2.5 goals looks the best bet in a huge game at the top of League One.

There have been under 2.5 goals in six of Wrexham’s last eight League One games and in Stockport’s last three.

Wrexham are third in League One, two places above Stockport, with the two sides separated by six points. Wrexham have won 21 of their 37 games this season, while Stockport have 18 wins so far.

Wrexham have won four of their last six League One matches, including a 1-0 win over Wycombe in their last game. However, Stockport are hard to beat and they have avoided defeat in nine of their last ten league games. They were 1-0 winners against Bolton last weekend to set them up nicely for this difficult trip.

Wrexham’s 1-0 win away at Wycombe last weekend was their fifth consecutive League One game with under 2.5 goals. The score was 0-0 at half time, Wrexham’s seventh straight game that had been level at the break. Wrexham will have been delighted with the three points having been priced at 14/5 to win the game.

Wrexham have been impressive defensively this season, conceding just 30 goals in League One – an average of 0.81 goals per game from 37 games. They haven’t conceded a goal in four of their last five league matches. Stockport have also impressed defensively away from home, conceding just 17 goals – an average of 0.89 goals per game from 19 games.

It could be hard to separate these two sides, with the 1-1 draw looking like a decent correct-score bet. Stockport have drawn nine of their 11 League One games this season 1-1
