Rossoneri seem to have run out of steam

AC Milan’s season has descended into misery in the few weeks following their Europa League quarter-final defeat to Roma and there is a chance they do not take all three points at home to consistent Genoa on Sunday.

The Rossoneri were eventually beaten in both home and away legs by the Giallorossi before a 2-1 defeat in the Milan derby made their fans really miserable.

They still need a result or two to secure second place in the standings, but a dire display in last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Juventus suggests Stefano Pioli’s squad just want the season to end. Milan are without key players like goalkeeper Mike Maignan, right-back Davide Calabria and midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek again here too.

Rossoblu are rarely beaten on the road

Pioli is probably toast anyway with Milan courting new coaches on a daily basis, so there could be an issue with motivation for this match with Alberto Gilardino’s Genoa.

The Rossoblu have risen up the table in recent weeks with two wins, a draw and one narrow defeat to a resurgent Lazio on their record since the start of April.

They have only won four away Serie A matches all season, but only one defeat in their last eight road games – to champions Inter – suggests a San Siro draw is within their compass.
