Atletico Madrid vs Granada Predictions
Atletico Madrid enjoyed a memorable night on Wednesday when they beat Barcelona 2-0 at the Vicente Calderon in the Champions League. They will come into this game full of confidence and expecting a win that would move them level on points with the Catalans for a few hours at least although they still have the inferior head to head record which could yet prove crucial in the final reckoning. Barca are the only side to win at the Vicente Calderon in the league since the start of 2015.
Opponents Granada are just 1 place above the relegation zone but have only lost 1 of their last 7 matches with all of the last 4 finishing level so they’ve become tougher to beat in recent weeks and Atleti can’t afford to think they just need to turn up and win this. 3 of those games were at home though against at best mid-table sides so they aren’t exactly setting the world on fire and their survival bid could go right down to the wire.
Goals seems quite likely in this game. Atletico Madrid are without 2 of their first-choice back four with Jose Gimenez injured and Filipe Luis suspended so that increases the likelihood of an away goal and both teams have scored in 3 of Granada’s last 4 matches.
However going forward Atleti are looking as dangerous as they have done all season with Fernando Torres rediscovering his goal touch and likely to come back into the side here following his Champions League ban. Torres has netted in all of his last 3 games while the prolific Antoine Griezmann has 10 goals in his last 10 matches for Atleti.
There have been over 2.5 goals in all of Atletico’s last 6 league matches and backing that to be the case again here at 5/6 looks a good bet.
