      • The last four matches between these two sides have all gone under 2.5 match goals

Bolton expected to make life tough for visitors

League One side Bolton are expected to make life tough for their Premier League counterparts on Tuesday night. Bolton have lost one of their last eight matches on home soil, with their last three League One outings all going under 2.5 match goals. Bolton have kept three clean sheets already this season and their five League One matches to date in 2022/23 have averaged 1.6 goals per game – the visitors are unlikely to have things all their own way on Tuesday in what could be a cagey affair.

Cup run may ease pressure on Gerrard

With pressure mounting on Villa boss, Steven Gerrard, Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie against Bolton is verging on must-win territory. Villa have fond memories of this competition having won it in 93/94 and 95/96, in recent times they have made the final in both 2009/10 and 2019/20, Gerrard will be expecting his side to progress against League One side Bolton and they can take encouragement from their good record in this fixture –  Villa have won three of their last four meetings with Bolton, winning the last two matches, both of which finished 2-0.

Under 2.5 Match Goals will be the main selection for Tuesday’s game at the University of Bolton Stadium, with a 2-0 away win forming the Correct Score prediction.
