Liverpool to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Last season’s Carabao Cup was the last trophy of Jurgen Klopp’s stint at Anfield and they should continue on their patch to Wembley  by winning an entertaining game at Brighton.

Liverpool 2-1

Goals have tended to be plentiful at the Amex Stadium this season and there looks a strong chance this match will produce its fair share, with the visitors coming out on top.

Brighton vs Liverpool Predictions

  • Liverpool have won 11 of their 13 matches this season.
  • The Reds have scored at least twice in seven of their last nine away games.
  • Five of Brighton’s last six home games have featured more than three goals.

Everything slotting into place for Reds

Liverpool’s transition to life under new manager Arne Slot has been seamless and there is no reason to belief the Reds’ affection for the Carabao Cup will be adversely affected by the departure of Jurgen Klopp.

It was the last trophy the Anfield outfit won under their German boss and little has really changed since his departure.

Liverpool remain full of goals and even look better placed to mount a strong Premier League challenge this season.

Slot shuffled the back for the 5-1 win over West Ham in the last round – two injury-time goals against ten men could have put a gloss on that result – but they have failed to score at least twice in just two of their nine away games this season.

Brighton defence needs to tighten up

All this is bad news for Brighton, who need to pick themselves up from conceding two late goals in a 2-2 draw at home to Wolves on Saturday.

They had beaten the same opponents in an earlier round in this competition, when new boss Fabian Hurzeler gave some of his second-string the chance to impress, but it is questionable whether they will be able to keep the Reds at bay.

There has been no shortage of goals at the Amex and the Seagulls look set to attack, but that leaves them prone to exposure, so correct-score enthusiasts may look towards a 2-1 away win.
