Cagliari vs Verona Predictions

  • Verona are unbeaten in nine Serie A meetings with Cagliari, winning on five occasions.
  • Cagliari have conceded two or more goals in each of their last six matches.
  • Cagliari have won just one of their seven home league games this season.

Verona to extend unbeaten streak

Verona have a good recent record in meetings with Cagliari and we predict that they can extend their unbeaten sequence against the Islanders to ten matches on Friday.

Both of these sides are having a miserable time of things and it is hard to be too bullish about either outfit in Sardinia this week.

The pair have won just six matches between them after 13 rounds of action and look set to be fully embroiled in the relegation battle, and shipping goals has been an issue for both.

Verona in particular have struggled in that regard and have conceded the most goals out of any side in Europe’s top five divisions. Conceding at a rate of just under 2.5 goals per game is a huge concern, but they are fancied to steady the ship this week against an opponent who they seem to thrive.

Home woes a concern for Cagliari

Cagliari have failed to win any of their last four home meetings with Verona and they have won just once in front of their fans this term, scoring just seven times.

They have conceded 14 times in Sardinia this season and have shipped as least two in their last six matches.

They held Milan to a 3-3 draw on home soil last time out but playing one of the big boys gives players an extra incentive and meeting the likes of Verona may not see such a lift.

A cagey 2-1 win to the visitors is our prediction as Verona have scored exactly two goals in two of their last three visits to this venue.
