Cardiff vs Manchester City Predictions
For the first time since their return to the Premier League, Cardiff actually managed to take the lead when they visited Stamford Bridge last weekend. Unfortunately for the visiting side, it didn’t last anywhere near long enough. Sol Bamba’s first half opener was cancelled out by Eden Hazard, who added a second before the break before completing his hat-trick ten minutes from time. Willian’s 83rd minute goal put the final nail in the coffin for Neil Warnock’s men.
The Bluebirds remain without a win since returning to the top flight, although there are tentative signs of improvement. They were unfortunate to lose 3-2 at home to Arsenal before the international break, and their newfound attacking spirit is a welcome advancement from the side that failed to score a single goal in their opening three matches.
Cardiff are undoubtedly still one of the favourites for relegation this term, but they have had moments of promise over the last couple of games despite the tough opposition. This is the final fixture in a trio of incredibly tough matches, and a good performance could build confidence enough for them to take all three points at home to Burnley next weekend. Still, any sort of points haul on Saturday look rather unlikely.
Manchester City aren’t exactly flying at the moment though. They were subject to a shock home defeat at the hands of Lyon in midweek, ending their unbeaten start to the season and beginning their Champions League campaign on the wrong foot.
Things are much better in the Premier League, with four wins from five games putting them in good stead. Still, with both Liverpool and Chelsea harbouring perfect records it’s looking increasingly likely that we’ll see a much closer race for the title this term.
One thing Pep Guardiola’s men are struggling with this season is avoiding mistakes at the back. They have conceded in three of their five league games, and looking back into last season they have only kept four clean sheets in their last ten Premier League away days. Considering Cardiff’s increased attacking output over the last few games, we think backing Both Teams to Score at these odds looks a great bet. In the end, we’re expecting another Manchester City win though, which we’re backing via a 3-1 correct score predictions.
