Crystal Palace vs Manchester United Predictions
Crystal Palace and Manchester United have both endured very disappointing Premier League seasons this term, but they will be hoping that an FA Cup triumph at Wembley will make it all worthwhile on Saturday.
Crystal Palace started the season strongly and were up competing for the European positions at one point, but the winter saw a dramatic drop in form. They ended up failing to win a match for nearly five months in the Premier League and found themselves dragged into an unlikely relegation battle. Fortunately for them they survived the final few weeks of the season and eventually finished 15th.
Manchester United have put in largely disappointing displays all season and suffered early eliminations from the Champions League and the League Cup before losing to arch rivals Liverpool in the Europa League. They won’t get another chance in the Champions League next season either, as their penultimate day defeat to West Ham resulted in them missing out on the top four.
Their final game of the season was called off due to a suspect package, and once the rest of the games were played they needed a winning margin of 19 goals to leapfrog Manchester City into 4th. Unsurprisingly they didn’t manage to record the highest ever win in the Premier League on Tuesday, and had to settle for a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth.
This was their 6th win in their last eight games in all competitions, so they aren’t out of form by any means. However, they have had less rest than their opponents, and Louis van Gaal controversially chose to play a pretty strong squad in their futile attempts against Bournemouth.
Crystal Palace lost 4-1 on the final day of the season to an in form Southampton side to take their recent record to two wins, three defeats, and two draws in their last seven outings.
Manchester United may have had a poor season overall, but they have finished the season fairly strongly. They have also put in good performances in the FA Cup against the likes of West Ham and Everton, and I think they’ll be too strong for a poor looking Crystal Palace team. Odds of 8/11 for a Manchester United Win look good value, and I’m going for a 2-0 correct score prediction due to Palace’s poor attacking record.
