Napoli to Win

Reason for tip

Napoli have claimed plenty of wins in Genova and they’ve put together a fantastic record against Genoa since 2010. The visitors have won two of their first three games, while Genoa opened their campaign with a 4-1 loss at home to Fiorentina.

Napoli 2-0

Reason for tip

Napoli have won by two clear goals in three of their last four Serie A games, scoring twice in three of their last five in the league. Genoa are fresh from a loss to nil to Torino, while they’ve scored just four goals across six meetings with the Partenopei.

Genoa vs Napoli Predictions

  • Napoli have won 17 meetings with Genoa since 2010
  • Genoa have lost two of their opening three games
  • The visitors have a fantastic record at this ground, with 19 wins since 2007

Setback in Napoli’s title defence

Napoli suffered a first defeat of the season against Lazio ahead of the international break, having seen off Frosinone and Sassuolo in the opening two rounds. The defending champions are hoping to retain the Scudetto, although they’re competing in Europe’s most open title race.

The Partenopei return from the international break with a visit to newly-promoted Genoa. This ground should bring back happy memories, as excluding the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, the stadium where Napoli have obtained the most Serie A wins since their return to the top flight is the Luigi Ferraris in Genova. They’ve picked up 18 wins here since the 2007/08 campaign and they’re good value to make it 19.

Visitors to come out on top

Since 2010, the Partenopei have won 17 Serie A matches against Saturday’s opponents (D6, L2), so it makes sense that the champions are favourites for this clash. Meanwhile, the hosts have lost two of their opening three games this term, including a 4-1 home loss to Fiorentina.

Napoli won home and away the last time these two crossed paths at this level, so look to the champions to take the points from Saturday night’s meeting.
