Can Girona bag a first win?

Girona are back in La Liga after a three year absence, and they won’t have been too disappointed with losing their opening game 1-0 to Valencia.

That highlights that they will be tough to beat this season, but the attack remains a worry for a side who saw three or more goals in only three of their final 14 matches in 2021/22.

They are sturdy at home though, losing just two of their final nine matches in the previous campaign at Estadi Montilivi.

Getafe must improve on the road

Getafe on the other hand had a shocking return away from home last season, managing just twelve goals and 11 points from their 19 games.

Their opening fixture of 2022/23 was a 3-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid, one of just three La Liga matches in their last 13 that have contained in excess of two goals.

Indeed, only one of their last seven on the road has contained three or more strikes, and that was a 3-1 hammering at Elche on the final day of the season.

I predict there will be fewer than three goals in this game, and Girona could nick it, with 1-0 my correct score prediction.
