Girona vs Real Madrid Predictions
- Girona have avoided defeat in five of seven home league games, winning four of them
- Real Madrid have failed to win six of their nine away matches this season, including four of seven in La Liga
- Los Blancos are without several key players while stars like Kylian Mbappe and Antonio Rudiger have suffered dips in form
Madrid’s frailty is becoming obvious
Girona will fancy their chances of giving an out-of-sorts Real Madrid a bloodied nose when the reigning La Liga champions and Champions League holders head to Montilivi on Saturday.
Los Blancos lost for the fourth time in their last seven matches in all competitions when they were beaten 2-1 by Athletic Club in Bilbao on Wednesday.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are still only four points behind leaders Barcelona with a game in hand, so there is no need to panic just yet, but their frailty on the road is becoming obvious.
Girona can avoid defeat at home
Real Madrid are without several key players through injury at the moment, including defenders Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao and David Alaba. That has meant Raul Aseensio has been thrust into the line-up alongside Antonio Rudiger, but the midfield has also lost balance in the absence of Eduardo Camavinga.
Clearly, Vinicius Junior is being missed too with Real Madrid having scored only once in their last two away trips combined. Girona can be tough cookies at home, where they beat Athletic Club 2-1 earlier this season, and rarely fail to score in front of their own fans.
Back a 1-1 draw in this contest with the main recommendation being to side with the hosts to avoid defeat again.
