Las Palmas vs Real Madrid Predictions
Real Madrid’s league season has been one of crushing victories and bitter blows. Their 1-0 defeat at home to city rivals Atletico a fortnight ago effectively ended their title challenge but they predictably followed that up with 2 comfortable wins beating Levante 3-1 away and Celta Vigo 7-1 at home. Neither result nor the fact they have now amassed 81 goals in just 28 league games changes the fact that they are 12 points behind Barcelona in a distant 3rd place. The Champions League will be their main focus now and they were 2-0 winners over Roma in midweek to secure a 4-0 aggregate although but for wasteful finishing from the Italians it could have been a lot closer.
Las Palmas have also won their last 3 matches to give themselves a tremendous boost in the battle to beat the drop. They ended their 15 year wait for a top flight away win with victory at Eibar a fortnight ago and followed that up with a shock 1-o win at Villarreal last weekend. They cruised to a 4-0 home win over Getafe in between those games and are now 4 points clear of the relegation zone and have recorded 3 successive clean sheets.
This then shouldn’t be an easy game for Real Madrid although last weekend’s clash with Celta Vigo looked tricky with numerous absentees and they demolished the Galicians. The return of Gareth Bale certainly has helped their firepower but just 2 clean sheets from 10 league games under Zidane shows they are clearly vulnerable at the back still. They have kept just 1 clean sheet in their last 11 league away games so Las Palmas getting a goal is highly likely and backing Real Madrid to win and Both Teams to Score at 13/10 looks a decent shout here.
