Liverpool vs Arsenal Predictions
- These sides have lost just three Premier League games between them this term
- Last season’s two league meetings between these clubs produced a total of nine goals
- Liverpool are unbeaten at home in the Premier League this season (W7, D1)
- Dominik Szoboszlai has scored twice in all competitions this month
Gunners in pole position to be first at Christmas
The battle to be Christmas number one comes to a head on Saturday when Liverpool and Arsenal square up in a huge Premier League contest.
As it stands, Arsenal are in pole position to be top of the tree by Christmas Day but Liverpool trail the Gunners by a solitary point and would leapfrog them with victory at Anfield.
This could be a crucial match in the context of the title race with both- sides eager to pull away from Aston Villa in third and Manchester City in fourth.
Arsenal were top of the table last Christmas and were the pacesetters for most of the Premier League campaign, only for Manchester City to finish the season five points clear of the Gunners as they secured the treble.
Mikel Arteta’s men will, however, have learned a lot from that experience and it seems the gap between them and City has narrowed this term.
The steely addition of Declan Rice in midfield has made a significant difference for Arsenal, who have lost just two games in the Premier League this term.
Reds look to extend unbeaten home run
But Liverpool have also been a tough nut to crack, losing just one league game in 2023-24, and they are unbeaten on home soil in the top flight this season.
Jurgen Klopp’s men were frustrated in a 0-0 draw with Manchester United on Sunday, failing to make the most of their 34 shots, although they should be in good spirits after their 5-1 mauling of West Ham in Wednesday’s EFL Cup quarter-final.
These are two of the country’s in-form teams right now and, although Liverpool are given the marginal advantage because they are at home, the draw looks like the best match result prediction.
The Reds have racked up five stalemates in the league already this season and both meetings between the sides were close last term with the Anfield contest finishing 2-2 and Arsenal edging the Emirates tussle 3-2 last October.
Expect another high-scoring battle at Anfield
Goals are typically guaranteed in this fixture and, as the two meetings last term produced a total of nine goals, a bet on a 2-2 correct score could be another decent angle.
There is a catalogue of top forwards involved in this contest but midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai could be a good pick to get on the scoresheet.
The Hungarian ace scored the opener in the midweek win over West Ham and also scored away to Sheffield United earlier this month.
