Liverpool vs Brighton Predictions

  • Liverpool have won 12 of their 14 matches in all competitions this season
  • Brighton have scored in 11 of their 12 fixtures this season
  • Mohamed Salah has scored three goals in his last three meetings with Brighton and five in his last eight matches this season

Reds showing a new solid side

Questions were asked about how Liverpool would cope with the switch from Jurgen Klopp’s heavy metal football to the more measured approach of new boss Arne Slot, but that transition has been smooth so far with the Reds looking harder to break down while maintaining a cutting edge in attack.

Only Nottingham Forest have shut out the Reds with a 1-0 win this season and that remains the only blot on Slot’s copybook so far.

Liverpool have won 12 of their 14 matches under the Dutchman’s stewardship and they look much more solid than the gung-ho days of Klopp in which they often fell behind first in matches.

A possession-based approach has helped Liverpool keep seven clean sheets this season and they could enjoy a comfortable win over Brighton on Saturday.

These two had a good look at each other in the EFL Cup on Wednesday, but both sides were rotated heavily, and the Reds’ 3-2 win was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests.

With Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Trent Alexander-Arnold all restored to the home defence, the Kop could have plenty to sing about on Saturday and we predict a home win in which both teams score.

Seagulls to have their wings clipped

Brighton have posed Liverpool problems in recent times and they could at least get on the scoresheet despite a defeat on Merseyside this weekend.

The Seagulls started this round of matches in 6th place in the Premier League and they shown a cutting edge in most fixtures. Only once in 12 outings have they failed to score and veteran striker Danny Welbeck is reaping the rewards of the adventurous style of play encouraged by new boss Fabian Hurzeler.

The south coast side have scored on trips to Everton, Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle this season and it was August 2018 when they last failed to score on a visit to Anfield.

Liverpool should get the job done and their abundance of attacking talent could see them score at least three times and a 3-1 home scoreline is the prediction for this clash.

More to come from Mo

Mohamed Salah rescued a point for Liverpool in the 2-2 draw at Arsenal last Sunday and the Egyptian has been in red-hot form this season.

The 32-year-old has lost none of his goalscoring instincts despite being a little bit slower in pace and we predict another goal for the record-breaking forward.

His strike at the Emirates was his 6th in nine league outings this season and he is also likely to be on penalty duty for the Reds, so he looks a solid option to get on the scoresheet once again this weekend.
