Liverpool vs Huddersfield Predictions
Liverpool put in an efficient performance at the Cardiff City Stadium last weekend as they beat Neil Warnock’s relegation candidates 2-0 in a showing worthy of any Premier League title grind, and now they face a task that looks very simple indeed on paper.
They come into the clash with the already relegated Huddersfield riding the wave of a six match winning streak in the league, and their only league defeat of the season is still that 2-1 defeat to Manchester City at the start of 2019.
Huddersfield, on the other hand, fell to another defeat last weekend when they hosted Watford and remain rock bottom of the Premier League ladder with a meagre 14 points to their name.
That defeat at the John Smiths Stadium made it seven losses on the bounce for The Terriers, and things get even worse when they leave home soil behind. Huddersfield have won just one away game all season, and that came all the way back in November. Since then they have lost 10 of their 11 league away days, including each of their last six.
Somehow, it managed to get even worse for the depressed travelling fans. They have seen their side fail to score in seven of their last eight trips away, while watching their opponents net 19 times at the other end of the pitch.
On Friday they face a Liverpool side who still hold the best defensive record at home in the league, conceding just 10 goals in their 17 matches. They have won five matches in a row at home and have kept a clean sheet on 10 occasions.
A victory for Liverpool looks almost like a foregone conclusion, and we’re expecting Virgil van Dijk and company to deal with the turgid Huddersfield attack without too many problems, so for that reason we’re backing Liverpool Win to Nil on Friday along with a 3-0 correct score prediction.
We’re also opting for Sadio Mane to get on the scoresheet. The Senegalese attacker has scored 14 of his 18 Premier League goals at Anfield this season and has scored nine goals in his last eight league appearances at home, so he looks great value to add to his tally on Friday.
