Disappointing Lyon looking for home comforts

It’s been an incredibly underwhelming season for Lyon. The seven-time Ligue 1 winners are out of the Europa League and are seven points adrift of the European places. Their season just seems to go from bad to worse in the crucial moments and it was made worse last time out as they lost 2-1 away to midtable outfit Brest. They’ll be happy to be returning to home soil given that they’ve won five of their last seven matches at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais.

Visitors Montpellier look assured of a place in the French top-flight next season but their form since the turn of the year has been that of a relegation-threatened side. ‘La Paillade’ have lost nine of their last 13 matches but oddly, their two wins in that period have both come away from home and they’ll be hoping they can replicate that here. Four of Montpellier’s five away victories this season have come whilst keeping a clean sheet, so keeping Lyon at bay might be the primary objective.

Hosts to edge competitive contest

Both of these sides are somewhat out of form but we think the hosts can get the job done here. It could be an exciting game but we’ll side with Lyon to claim victory but with both teams hitting the back of the net.
