Manchester City vs West Ham United Predictions
- City have won their last eight league matches, all of which were by two goals or more
- City have won three home league games in a row, scoring 14 goals in the process
- West Ham have lost three of their last four away outings, conceding at least four goals in each defeat
City set to claim title in style
The situation is simple for Manchester City and victory over West Ham in this season-closing fixture at the Etihad would see them crowned champions for a fourth season in succession.
It would also be their sixth title in the last seven seasons and, having done the hard work by winning their last eight matches to get their heads in front of Arsenal, it is now difficult to see them slipping up.
This is David Moyes’s final match in charge of West Ham following five years at the helm, which is something Arsenal supporters will be clutching on in hope that the Hammers can give him the perfect send off.
However, City have won five of their last six Premier League meetings with the Londoners, triumphing in the last three by at least two goals.
Moyes unlikely to get happy farewell
The Citizens’ eight-match winning run has seen them triumph by at least two goals and they have scored at least four times in six of those fixtures.
This is the time in the season that Pep Guardiola’s side turn it on like clockwork and nobody has been able to live with them in the league since the start of April.
At the Etihad, City have been especially dominant and they remain unbeaten from 18 home games, winning on 13 occasions.
The only points they have dropped in their last ten home league matches have come in draws with Chelsea and Arsenal and their three most recent outings at the Etihad have seen them thrash Aston Villa 4-1 and inflict 5-1 hidings on Luton and Wolves.
Given the fact West Ham’s last two away league matches have seen them outclassed 5-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and brushed aside 5-2 at Crystal Palace, the visitors have every reason to be fearing the worst.
In fact, West Ham have lost five of their last seven away league games, also conceding four at Newcastle, losing 3-0 at Manchester United and 2-0 at Nottingham Forest.
Citizens could go through the gears
With all considered, City are expected to stamp their authority and an early breakthrough could see them run riot.
That makes -2 goals on the handicap a strong investment, a bet which would have landed for four of West Ham’s last ten opponents when they’ve been on their travels. And neither are in the class of a City side with motivation to put on a show.
City have won four of their last five league games to nil and they were 3-0 winners in this corresponding fixture last season, which is the interest for correct-score punters.
