Napoli vs Bologna Predictions
A 2-0 loss to Inter on Saturday all but ended Napoli’s title challenge but they can keep up some level of pressure on leaders Juventus with a home win against Bologna on Tuesday. Realistically, Massimiliano Allegri’s side are unlikely to let such a dominant position slip, but Napoli have to keep going or they could even lose second place to Roma, which would mean facing a qualification round for a place in next season’s Champions League. Although Maurizio Sarri’s men will miss top goalscorer Gonzalo Higuain – serving the last match of a three-game ban in this fixture – Bologna at home is just the game a team with four wins in 11 games needs to get back on track.
It is just as well Bologna have 37 points already, which may well be enough for safety, as their form of late has been rotten, with blanks drawn in six of their last eight games, none of which they have won. Their solid cushion above the relegation zone should ensure survival for another season, but they will want to end the campaign in better form to avoid the risk of their problems in front of goal rolling over into next year. With top goalscorer Matia Destro (8 Serie A goals) injured, Bologna have a genuine lack of firepower and should pose few problems for Napoli here.
Napoli’s defeat at the San Siro may have dented their Scudetto ambitions but they remain strong favourites for this game against Bologna, which is understandable given they are undefeated in 16 home games. An early goal would likely set up a comfortable victory for Sarri’s side, so our tip is Napoli HT/FT at 7/10 with Betfair. A 2-0 home win can be backed at 5/1, also with Betfair.
