PSG vs Napoli Predictions
PSG were in imperious form once again at the weekend, crushing Amiens 5-0 in Ligue 1. They have already opened up an eight point lead at the top of the table, crushing third placed side Lyon 5-0 before the international break. However, we all know that PSG consider their own division a formality. They have their eyes on a bigger prize, a first ever Champions League title. Their group is far from easy, and this week former boss Carlo Ancelotti takes his Napoli side to Paris aiming to cause an upset.
The French champions have found themselves trailing Napoli in the Champions League so far, as they’re a point shy of the leaders. The Ligue 1 side are paying for a 3-2 defeat at Liverpool on the opening day, and they have a lot of work to do based on that display to go all the way in this competition. They have a squad which looks quite disjointed in key areas, but there’s so much attacking talent. They’ve won their last five games by an aggregate score of 23-2, and they should impress going forward once again here.
Napoli have had a mixed start in Europe, with a 1-0 win over Liverpool last time out putting them top. Two dropped points at Red Star could come back to haunt them, but first they need to focus on causing a shock in Paris. They certainly have the quality to cause problems against a questionable PSG defence, with their 4-4-2 system giving them a threat down the flanks, and presence up front.
The visitors should get on the scoresheet here, with PSG seeing both teams score in their last six matches in the Champions League. The Partenopei have the quality to grab a goal, but they’ve lost 2-1 in three of their last four away trips in this competition. We’re backing PSG to win and both teams to score, with the French champions having enough quality to win what should be a high scoring tie.
Kylian Mbappe has built on his star-turn at the World Cup this season, and his form of late is utterly brilliant, and the forward is hoping to bag another goal when they face Napoli this week. He has nine goals in his last eight for club and country. He has scored seven of those in five games for PSG, and he has found the net in each of his appearances in the Champions League this season. We expect him to strike against the Partenopei this week and continue his great form, and the forward is well priced to find the net once again.
