Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

At least three goals have been scored in seven of Rangers’ last nine games and also in five of Celtic’s last six matches. The recent derby record suggests goals are due with over 2.5 landing in six of the last eight Old Firm clashes.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

The teams are hard to separate on paper and this should be a close game with both capable of scoring multiple goals once it opens up. Rangers have scored two or more goals in 11 of their last 12 home Premiership games, but have kept only five clean sheets during that run. Celtic have scored two or more goals in seven of their last 10 away league games.

Old Firm rivals can deliver amid title tension

Rangers and Celtic can deliver an entertaining game, despite the enormous Scottish Premiership title tension surrounding Sunday’s Old Firm Derby at Ibrox Stadium.

This isn’t the season’s last clash of these rivals, but it could be the most significant as the result will shape the remaining seven games for Rangers and six for Celtic. The Hoops need to win to avoid being overtaken by the Light Blues if they win their game in hand.

Brendan Rodgers has an excellent record against Gers, having won 12 and drawn two of his 15 games in the Old Firm dugouts across his two spells in charge at Parkhead. His side have won both previous league contests this term, 1-0 against a team coached by Michael Beale in September and 2-1 at home to Phillipe Clement’s side in December.

Furuhashi can find the back of the net again

The second of those two games is clearly more relevant as it was more recent and with the same two managers in charge. Celtic established a two-goal lead just after half-time and seemed certainties to win when Leon Balogun was sent off with 20 minutes to go, but Rangers got a late goal and pushed all the way to the final whistle.

Rangers had 14 shots in the game, a couple more than Celtic, but the attacking numbers for both sides reflected a high-scoring contest. The sides look closely matched on paper and unless one or the other is reduced in number by the referee again, they look to hard to separate in terms of the match result.

Backing over 2.5 goals in the game looks the safest play in the book, although the odds are well under evens. However, a today profit can be made in supporting Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi, who has scored five goals in his last five league games against Rangers (four starts) to add to his Old Firm tally.
