Red Bull Salzburg vs Club Brugge Predictions

This Europa League tie is finely poised heading into the 2nd leg on Thursday, With Belgian side Club Brugge taking a narrow 2-1 lead to Austria. Both teams picked up wins on Sunday and should head into Thursday’s match with plenty of confidence. RB Salzburg will be keen to make up for their defeat in Belgium after having more of the possession and creating just as many chances to score as their 1st leg hosts.

RB Salzburg won 2-1 in the Austrian Cup away at lower league side Wiener Neustadt on Sunday to progress through to the Semi-Finals where Grazer AK. Club Brugge moved to within eight points of the Belgian First Division A leaders Genk by beating them 3-1 at the weekend, but remain big outsiders for the title. When Club Brugge played host to RB Salzburg last Thursday the match proved to be a game of two halves as a seventeenth minute strike from Junuzović handed the Austrian visitors the lead at the break. Defender Denswil brought the teams back onto level terms in the sixty-fourth minute and with nine minutes left on the clock Brazilian striker Wesley made sure the Belgians took a lead into the 2nd leg by scoring their second goal to make it 2-1 to Club Brugge at the halfway point in the tie.

Just like in the 1st leg and the majority of both teams recent domestic results we’re expecting both teams to score once again on Thursday. Each of RB Salzburg’s and Club Brugge’s last five matches in league and cup have ended with both teams on the scoreboard, which includes last weeks 1st leg in Belgium. Both teams head into the 2nd leg with one defeat in their last six competitive matches, so confidence is bound to be high in both camps and that should lead to another very close game between the pair on Thursday. The hosts won all six of their group games and we’re unlucky not to have at least drawn the 1st leg against Club Brugge, but their guests beat Monaco 4-0 away from home and earned draws against Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League group which suggests they certainly wont prove easy to defeat.

Dabour has scored six goals in Europe for RB Salzburg this season, while Brazilian striker Wesley, who scored in the 1st leg against RB Salzburg, has netted three times in European competitions for Club Brugge so far. We’re confident that both teams will score in Thursday’s 2nd leg, and have backed RB Salzburg to win the game 2-1 which would see the tie head into extra time. The hosts have a fantastic winning record in Europe this season and we’re unlucky to lose last time out against Club Brugge. Both teams last five matches have ended with both teams involved scoring and we can’t see any reason for that trend to end on Thursday.
