Tottenham Hotspur Over 1.5 Team Goals

Reason for tip

Tottenham are far stronger going forward than they are defending and there looks a strong chance they make a strong contribution to another thriller. Liverpool have conceded at least twice in three of their last four games and Spurs can make their mark more than once.

Liverpool 3-2

Reason for tip

Tottenham have the pace and ability to threaten any Premier League defence but fans have their hearts in their mouths every time their opponents get around their penalty area, so take Liverpool to come out winners by the odd goal in five.

Mohamed Salah To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Last week’s draw with Fulham was only the fourth league match this season in which Mo Salah has not scored and the Egyptian can get back in the mood by exploiting Tottenham’s shaky makeshift backline.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool Predictions

  • Tottenham have scored at least twice in eight of their last 11 home matches.
  • Liverpool have lost just one league game this season.
  • Mo Salah has scored four goals in his last two league away games.

Spurs possess plenty of attacking flair

Tottenham fans were left to sweat again on Thursday as a couple of hair-brained moments almost cost them a Carabao Cup victory over Manchester United.

However, crazy games seem the order of the day at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium under Ange Postecoglou and we should be treated to another thriller when Premier League leaders Tottenham head to N17 on Sunday.

Spurs can be rampant going forward while their defending often leaves their followers with the heads in their hands, but they should be able to threaten Arne Slot’s table-toppers.

Liverpool have conceded at least twice in three of their last four matches against Southampton, Newcastle and Fulham, and Tottenham are arguably stronger going forward than that trio, so it is worth chancing Postecoglou’s boys can hit the target more than once.

Reds can exploit home side’s defensive issues

Usually, that would be enough for a victory, but Tottenham’s defending cannot be trusted and it would not be a big surprise if Liverpool left with the points.

Postecoglou has been digging around for reinforcements as he is without his first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and his best two central defenders Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, and those absences have exposed frailties.

Stand-in keeper Fraser Forster’s confidence could be hit by a couple of howlers in the win over United, but Liverpool are so strong up front they can still come out on top, so correct-score punters are pointed towards a 3-2 away victory.

Salah still leading the Liverpool charge

While there has been a change in the Anfield manager’s office, Mo Salah remains the main man on the pitch and has scored 16 league and cup goals this season.

Last week’s 2-2 draw with Fulham was only the fourth league game this season in which the Egyptian has not found the net and he scored twice in both of the Reds’ last two away matches at Southampton and Newcastle.

Chances look set to fall his way against a shaky Spurs defence and he should be able to get back on the goal trail.
