Wales vs Trinidad And Tobago Predictions

The Wales squad head to Wrexham for the first time since 2008 under the guidance of new manager Ryan Giggs, who took over from Chris Coleman after he left to take the helm at Sunderland.

Giggs has included many of the usual suspects in the squad, as you would expect. Aaron Ramsey, Gareth Bale, Chris Gunter, Ashley Williams, Ben Davies, Joe Allen, and Sam Vokes are all present to bring experience to the squad. However, there are some fresh faces among the team, with Will Vaulks looking for his first cap in midfield and a quartet of teenagers in Rabbi Matondo, Ben Woodburn, Matthew Smith, and Ethan Ampadu hoping to make an impact.

This is a team that could really do with an injection of youth too, because their recent performances haven’t exactly been dazzling. They missed out on World Cup qualification in 2018, and their performances since Russia 2018 ended haven’t shown much hope of them claiming a spot in Euro 2020. Of course, there is still a whole qualification period ahead of them, but with just two wins, one draw, and five defeats to their name since last May, there is definitely a lot of work to do.

Trinidad and Tobago represents a massive opportunity for Giggs to get off on the right foot as Wales manager though, and with their Euro 2020 qualifier against Slovakia coming up on Sunday they could do with a bit of confidence.

The visiting side’s last outing was a dismal 1-0 loss against Iran in November, and they have lost three of their last four games. Considering one of these was against the lowly Thailand, Wales will be confident about getting a result on Wednesday.

That being said, we’re not expecting an overly high scoring match here. Trinidad and Tobago may struggle for results, but they’re actually fairly well organised at the back. Along with their lack of goal-scoring threat, this leads to a high proportion of low scoring affairs, with each of their last seven games seeing fewer than three goals.

Wales, meanwhile, have seen fewer than three goals in 15 of their last 19 matches. This includes six of their last nine home games too, so we’re backing a Wales Win and Under 2.5 Goals along with a 2-0 correct score prediction on Wednesday.
