West Ham United vs Tottenham Hotspur Predictions
- The Hammers are on a four game unbeaten streak at the London Stadium in all competitions
- Spurs have won just one of their last five on the road in the league
- Only Arsenal have scored more league away goals than Tottenham this season
Irons can deliver Hammer blow to Tottenham’s Champions League hopes
After squandering a 3-1 lead at Newcastle on the weekend in a 4-3 defeat, West Ham will be looking to bounce back with a stronger performance at home to a Tottenham side that has had their fair share of troubles on the road in recent games
The Hammers registered high-scoring victories over Brentford (4-2) and Freiburg (5-0) at the London Stadium over recent home fixtures while they also held Tottenham’s top four rivals Aston Villa to a 1-1 draw in their last match in front of their own fans.
Spurs pose a major threat to this strong home form given their impressive attacking play this season but they struggled to assert themselves on the road in 2024, succumbing to a heavy 3-0 defeat at fellow London rivals Fulham in their last away game as well as being held to a 2-2 draw by relegation-threatened Everton this calendar year.
The reverse fixture saw West Ham produce a textbook “smash and grab” performance to take all three points in a 2-1 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, despite only 25% possession across the 90 minutes.
However, West Ham should be able to dictate more of the play in front of their own fans and they could do the double over Spurs for the first time in 10 years, with a repeat 2-1 score drawing a lot of appeal.
Kudus to receive kudos in another goalscoring performance
Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus has had a largely impressive season for the Hammers this season, registering 11 goal contributions across his 25 league appearances so far this campaign.
The 23 year old has scored three goals across his last three appearances for David Moyes’ men, including at Newcastle last time out as well as grabbing an assist and could pose a threat off the right flank in what could be a pacey and direct attack.
With Michail Antonio and top scorer Jarrod Bowen also expected to start, there should be plenty of quality going forward for the Hammers to get them on the scoresheet and Kudus may be tempting choice to grab his eighth league strike of the season.
