Wolverhampton vs Newcastle Predictions
- Both teams have scored in Wolves’ last three Premier League home games.
- Both teams have scored in Newcastle’s last three games.
- Newcastle have played out two 1-1 draws in as many away games this season.
Wolves in need of a boost
It has been a difficult start to the season for Wolves and they face another tough game on Sunday when Newcastle visit Molineux.
Gary O’Neil’s men slipped to expected defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea in their opening two games but managed their first point in the last round of games at Nottingham Forest.
Newcastle are unbeaten after four games and have seven points from a possible nine. The Magpies are the favourites to come away with the points but their results have potentially been better than their performances and the best play here could be backing both teams to score.
Newcastle backline looks vulnerable
After drawing a blank against Arsenal, who had the strongest defence in the league last season, Wolves have hit five goals across three games and they’re facing a Newcastle side that has managed just one clean sheet in their last 13 competitive away games.
Both teams have scored in each of Newcaste’s last three games across all competitions and Wolves haven’t managed to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League since February, so both teams to score looks a strong possibility here.
Spoils could be shared
Wolves have had a tough start to the season but they can build on their point at Forest by getting a result against Newcastle.
O’Neil’s side competed well in the first half against Chelsea and were level at 2-2 at the break, but a second half collapse condemned them to a heavy loss. Newcastle picked up an impressive win over Spurs last time out but they rode their luck in that victory at St James’ Park, and their away form has been less impressive.
Both of Newcastle’s away games this season have been 1-1 draws (including a penalties win over Forest in the cup) and that looks a reasonable correct score play in this fixture.
Alexander Isak opened his Premier League account for the season with the winner against Tottenham and then hit three goals in two games for Sweden over the international break, so the Newcastle forward appeals for an anytime effort at Molineux.
