Wolverhampton vs Watford Predictions
- Wolves have conceded in eight of their last nine games in all competitions.
- Watford have managed just three clean sheets in 13 Premier League away games and have conceded 50 goals in total in 27 games.
- Both teams have scored in two of Watford’s last three games and in two of Wolves’ last four.
- Watford are averaging 1.o goals-per-game, Wolves average 0.9.
Out of form pair clash at Molineux
Wolves and Watford meet in the Premier League at Molineux on Thursday in a game that could have a big impact at both ends of the table.
The Hornets could draw level with Everton in the final safe spot with a win, while Wolves are in desperate need of three points themselves if they are to reignite their European hopes.
Wolves were being talked up as potential top four candidates not too long ago but their’ bid for a place in one of Europe’s three competitions has faltered over the last few weeks as three defeats in a row has left them five points adrift of West Ham in sixth.
The visitors will be without forward Ismaila Sarr once again due to the muscle injury that saw him miss the 3-2 defeat at home to Arsenal, while Nelson Semedo is missing for the hosts.
With home advantage, Wolves would normally be expected to edge this clash between two out of form teams but they don’t offer a great deal of value and instead both teams to score at odds against has caught my eye here.
Both teams capable of scoring
A lack of goals has been Wolves’ issue all season and they have failed to score in their last two games – but they have at least been creating chances and have managed 26 attempts in total over those fixtures despite drawing blanks.
Wolves may be lacking a cutting edge and they are averaging just 0.9 goals-per-game in the league, but they should be able to find a way through against a Watford backline that has been breached 50 times in 27 Premier League games and have managed just two clean sheets in 13 away games.
The hosts have only managed one clean sheet in their last nine games in all competitions and Watford managed to score twice in defeat last time out, so the visitors should be able to find a way through themselves and both teams to score looks good value in this midweek meeting.
Spoils could be shared
With both teams in poor form and in need of points, there is a chance these two sides could cancel each other out and a 1-1 result has some appeal in the correct score market.
Wolves have only had two stalemates in 13 home games in the league but only two of the other 11 games have been decided by more than one goal and that demonstrates they have been involved in a number of tight games despite the lack of draws.
Watford have three draws in their 13 trips and all three of those have come in their last four away games. The Hornets, who are averaging exactly one goal-per-game, are looking a bit more solid under the guidance of veteran boss Roy Hodgson, and would probably see a point as a positive result on Thursday.
